On this page you will find links to access a representative sample of questions used on the 2013 and 2014 ELA/Literacy and Mathematics Common Core state tests. There are questions available in every grade (3-8) for both ELA and Mathematics. These questions have been annotated to display the kinds of thinking students are required to do in the new Common Core Tests. These documents will be helpful for better understanding the requirements and expectations of the Common Core state tests.
Letter from Commissioner King: 2014 Grades 3-8 ELA and Mathematics Tests
Item Maps with P-Values
Item p-value can help inform instruction by revealing how all students performed on any given item. Likewise, educators can use item p-values as a benchmark to compare how their students performed against students across the state.
More sophisticated models, called Item Response Theory (IRT), are used for form construction, scaling and equating. IRT is used to help develop and maintain NAEP and all other state testing programs, including the upcoming PARCC and SBAC.
